Meet Rachel Wexler

Partner Attorney

Rachel joined Trachman Law Center, LLC in 2020 to serve clients on their family building journeys. Rachel is proud to practice in a field of law dedicated to protecting the reproductive and parental rights of individuals and families. Rachel represents individuals and couples of all backgrounds and sexual orientations in every step of the surrogacy and egg, sperm, and embryo donation process, in addition to providing clients with a full suite of estate planning services. Rachel also works with couples on pre or post-nuptial agreements and embryo disposition agreements.

Previously, Rachel represented clients in family law litigation in New York City and clerked for the Honorable Marc Brown in the New Jersey Superior Court. Originally from the Washington, D.C. metro area, Rachel went to college at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and law school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Rachel is a member of the American Bar Association’s Assisted Reproductive Technology Committee, the New Jersey Bar Association, the New York Bar Association’s Surrogacy Committee, the National LGBTQ+ Bar and Family Law Institute, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and RESOLVE, the national infertility association. She is also a member of the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS) and the Jewish Lawyers Guild.

Rachel frequently partners with clinics and community organizations, including Shady Grove Fertility, Kindbody, the Jewish Fertility Foundation, and SEEDS, to raise awareness about family-building options and related legal topics.

In 2018, Rachel’s article, “Artificial Reproductive Technology and Gendered Notions of Parenthood After Obergefell: Analyzing the Legal Assumptions that Shaped the Baby M Case and the Hodge-Podge Nature of Current Surrogacy Law”, was published in the Tulane Journal of Law and Sexuality. It argues that the legalization of same-sex marriage requires state courts to restructure their approach to determining parental rights by getting rid of outdated legal norms and establishing equal rights for non-biological parents.

Rachel is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Colorado.
